A Note For New Clients

If you’re new to Pilates, we highly recommend starting with a 55-minute private Pilates session at our Costa Mesa studio. This allows you to get acquainted with the Reformer machine and our other fun Pilates apparatuses before joining a group class. We want you to feel comfortable, safe, and at ease in our studio, and a private session will help you get familiar with the pace and flow of our classes. First-time privates are $85—call or text us at 714-791-0449 to book.

Parking: Pilates On Purpose offers convenient access with ample parking and complimentary valet service in Plaza Sereno, located at the intersection of 17th Street and Westminster Avenue, next to Greenleaf Chopshop.

About Us

Founded by master trainer and wellness expert Darci Brawley in 2009, Pilates On Purpose is a boutique Pilates studio in Costa Mesa offering Pilates, yoga, and other mindful movement practices. Our focus is on physical and mental well-being, helping clients achieve holistic health and vitality.

What is Pilates?

The Pilates method, developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1930s, revolutionized exercise with its focus on holistic health. During World War II, Pilates observed that his innovative techniques for stretching and strengthening significantly enhanced the soldiers' recovery and overall well-being, all while avoiding overexertion. His background—a prize-winning gymnast father and a naturopath mother—further shaped his philosophy of achieving both physical and mental excellence.

Pilates is a harmonious blend of physical and mental conditioning, fostering strength from within. By emphasizing breath control and engaging the Core—a band of muscles encompassing the abdomen, back, and pelvic floor—Pilates promotes a robust foundation for strength and stability. This Core engagement is key to preventing injury, enhancing balance, and improving overall performance.
